titanium, Ti, 22

-It is used to produce relatively soft artificial

gemstones.

-Titanium is an important pigment for industrial,

domestic and artistic applications, as it is
extremely opaque and sunfast. This latter
properties is also exploited in sunscreen
applications.

-it’s also used in fighter aircraft, artificial hip

joints, pipes in nuclear power stations
copper, Cu, 29

-it is used in wiring and contacts for PC, TV,

mobile phones and in the circuitry.

-it is used in tools and buildings

-it is used trams, lorries, cars, trains, etc

nickel, Ni, 28

-Nickel is used primarily for the alloys it forms.

It is used for making stainless steel and many
other corrosion resistant alloys. Copper-nickel
alloy tubing is used in desalination plants.
Nickel is used in coinage and for armor plating.
When added to glass, nickel gives a green color.
Nickel plating is applied to other metals to
provide a protective coating. Finely divided
nickel is used as a catalyst for hydrogenating
vegetable oils. Nickel is also used in ceramics,
magnets, and batteries.
iron, Fe, 26

-Iron is usually made into steel, which is

stronger and more easily shaped than iron. Steel
is widely used as a structural material, for
example to make bridges, buildings, ships and
