Clays Clays are used for making pottery, both utilitarian and decorative, and

construction products, such as bricks, walls, and floor tiles.

Cobalt Cobalt is used in alloys for aircraft engine parts and in alloys with
corrosion/wear resistant uses. Cobalt is widely used in batteries and in
electroplating.

Copper Most copper is used in electrical equipment such as wiring and motors. This is
because it conducts both heat and electricity very well, and can be drawn into
wires.

Halite Some of its most common uses are as food seasoning, for road safety to melt
snow and ice, as salt licks for cattle (these provide the cattle with salt, which is
essential to their health), and for medicinal purposes.

Mica The major uses of sheet and block mica are as electrical insulators in electronic
equipment, thermal insulation, gauge “glass”, windows in stove and kerosene
heaters, dielectrics in capacitors, decorative panels in lamps and windows.

Bauxite In chemical, bauxite along with alumina is used in the manufacturing of


aluminium chemicals. In refractory, it is used as a raw material for making
several products.

Calcite The properties of calcite make it one of the most widely used minerals. It is
used as a construction material, abrasive, agricultural soil treatment,
construction aggregate, pigment, pharmaceutical and more.

Graphite Graphite is used in pencils and lubricants. It is a good conductor of heat and
electricity. Its high conductivity makes it useful in electronic products such as
electrodes, batteries, and solar panels.

Quartz Crushed quartz is used as an abrasive in sandpaper, silica sand is employed in


sandblasting, and sandstone is still used whole to make whetstones, millstones,
and grindstones.

Talc Talc is used in many industries, including paper making, plastic, paint and
coatings, rubber, food, electric cable, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and
ceramics.
