Minerals
Kaolin
Kaolin is a layered silicate mineral. Kaolin is used in ceramics, medicine,
coated paper, as a food additive, in toothpaste, as a light diffusing material in
white incandescent light bulbs, and in cosmetics.

Soapstone
Soapstone is a terrific material for many applications, and especially
makes a good alternative to granite, quartz, or marble countertops.
Other popular uses for soapstone include sinks, tiles, masonry heaters,
and wood stoves.
Feldspar
Feldspars are used as fluxing agents to form a glassy phase at low
temperatures and as a source of alkalis and alumina in glazes. They
improve the strength, toughness, and durability of the ceramic body,
and cement the crystalline phase of other ingredients, softening,
melting and wetting other batch constituents.

Mica
Mica is a naturally occurring mineral dust often used in makeup
foundations, as filler in cement and asphalt, and as insulation material
in electric cables. Mica is a naturally occurring mineral dust often
used in makeup foundations, as filler in cement and asphalt, and as
insulation material in electric cables.
Copper
As copper is ductile and a great conductor, its main use is in electric
generators, household/car electrical wiring, and the wires in
appliances, computers, lights, motors, telephone cables, radios and
TVs.

Iron
Iron is used to make alloy steels like carbon steels with additives such
as nickel, chromium, vanadium, tungsten, and manganese. These are
used to make bridges, electricity pylons, bicycle chains, cutting tools
and rifle barrels. Cast iron contains 3–5% carbon. It is used for pipes,
valves, and pumps.
Nickel
Nickel is used in batteries, including rechargeable nickel-cadmium
batteries and nickel-metal hydride batteries used in hybrid vehicles.
Nickel has a long history of being used in coins. The US five-cent
piece (known as a 'nickel') is 25% nickel and 75% copper.

Gold
Gold is a precious metal commonly used for investments and
jewellery (rings, necklaces, watches, etc.). However, the numerous
desirable properties of gold, such as superior electric conductivity and
resistance to corrosion, has also made it an important input into many
electrical and technology applications.
Bauxite
Bauxite is used as the main raw material for alumina making, which
in turn is utilised for aluminium manufacturing. More than 90 percent
of the world production of bauxite is consumed in the aluminium
industry.

Granite
Rough-cut and polished granite is used in buildings, bridges, paving,
monuments, and many other exterior projects. Indoors, polished
granite slabs and tiles are used in countertops, tile floors, stair treads,
and many other practical and decorative features.
Diamond
Diamonds of good quality are used in jewellery (rings, earrings,
necklaces, brooches and bracelets). Very small and poor quality
stones are called 'industrial diamonds' and are used as the abrasive
material on cutting wheels and drill bits, machine bearings, glass
cutting implements and grinding and polishing powders.

Jasper
Jasper breaks with a smooth surface and is used for ornamentation or
as a gemstone. It can be highly polished and is used for items such as
vases, seals, and snuff boxes.
Opal
Ninety-five percent of the opals are used for jewelery, ornament and
collector's market in precious stone applications. These opals are
often rewarded for their colors and designs. Some people use as part
of gemstone therapy or as a focal point during incantation practices.

Amethyst
Today natural health practitioners don't use amethysts for the same
purpose as the Romans, though some do use them in treating
addiction. Instead, amethysts are said to promote serenity and calm.
Those who work with crystals may use the gemstones as a way to
help reduce your anxiety and perceptions of pain.
Topaz
Topaz is mainly produced for use as a gemstone for jewellery and
ornaments. Topaz can be a raw material for making refractory
materials. These materials retain their strength at high temperatures,
so can be used in furnaces, kilns, incinerators, and reactors.
