Excel shortcuts

A collection of the most useful keyboard shortcuts


When we created this list, we decided that we would include only what we felt were the most useful shortcuts that can help you get your work done faster

Auditing
Ctrl + ` Alternate between displaying cell values or formulas
Alt » M » P/D Show arrows to precedents/dependents of the active cell
Alt » M » A » A Clear all arrows

Calculation
F9 Calculate all worksheets in all open workbooks
Rechecks dependent formulas and then calculates all cells in all open workbooks,
Ctrl + Shift + Alt + F9 including cells not marked as needing to be calculated

Commenting
Shift + F2 Add/edit a cell comment
Shift + F2 » Esc » Del Delete a cell comment

Copying / Pasting
Alt » H » V » S » V » Enter Paste special values
Alt » H » V » S » E » Enter Paste special transpose

Editing
F2 Edit the active cell and position the cursor at the end of the cell contents
Ctrl + 1 Display format cells window
Ctrl + Shift + '+' » R/C »
Enter Insert row/column above/left of the active cell
Ctrl + '-' » R/C » Enter Delete row/column of active cell
F4 Repeat last insert/delete/format action

Grouping / Hiding
Alt » A » G » G » R/C » Enter Group rows/columns of selection

Alt » A » U » U » R/C » Enter Ungroup rows/columns of selection


Alt » H » O » U » S/H Hide/unhide sheet(s)

Navigation
Ctrl + Page Up/Down Move to the sheet to the left/right of the active sheet
Ctrl/Shift + Space Bar Select columns/rows of selection
Alt » W » W » 1-9 Show open workbook #1 through #9
