 Per capita consumption of food: As per National
Sample Survey Organization at national level the per
capita average consumption of cereals, pulses,
vegetables, fruits and milk in the country was 435
gms, 23gms, 60 gms, 23gms and 146 gms in the
year 1993-94. Thus, except cereal, all other items are
consumed in lesser quantity than recommended.
