Why the ZigBee Standard?
ZigBee is specifically targeted for wireless sensor neworks,
just like cellular is targeted towards mobile phones, Z-Stack is compliant with the ZigBee 2006 specification
Bluetooth for short-range voice, and WiFi for internet data.
History shows that mass-market acceptance of wireless
products requires a worldwide standard.

SimpleAPI – Designing With ZigBee is
Easier Than Ever!
TI’s newest versions of Z-Stack introduce a new access to expert assistance and answers that address
application feature called SimpleAPI. SimpleAPI has your specific needs. Even if you are currently just
only 10 API calls to learn, which drastically simplifies the evaluating ZigBee, this course is designed to get you
development of ZigBee applications.
SimpleAPI simplifies:
• Device configuration
• Commissioning of networks
• Binding of devices
• Sending and receiving data
The 10 function calls are targeted toward network
formation, binding, sending and receiving data. In addition,
the stack configuration can now be done via NVRAM
parameters instead of having pre-compiled values in code.
The configuration can be done using a PC-based tool or by
an external microcontroller. Two sample applications are
provided to illustrate the use of the SimpleAPI; a sensor
data collection network application and a home automation
network application.
Z-Stack™ – TI’s Industry-Leading ZigBee
Protocol Stack
and supports multiple platforms, including the CC2430 SoC,
CC2431 SoC with location engine and CC2520 + MSP430
platform.
Z-Stack version 1.4.2 includes the new SimpleAPI, which
was designed from the point of view of the application
developer rather than the ZigBee specification, but it still
provides a ZigBee Compliant Platform (ZCP). This is an
excellent method to quickly build ZigBee-based wireless
mesh networked applications.
