Objective of the project:
This project is an extension to our minor project “Automatic energy saving lighting
system”. In the minor project we included automation of lights and fans according to the
natural light intensity and ambient temperature inside the room.

This project deals with the designing of an automatic control system for the room that
increases flexibility and comfort for users and decreases cost by reducing the energy
consumption. By inculcating the use of non-conventional energy sources the overall
efficiency of this system is also increased thereby making the system much more reliable
and independent. The basic aim of extending this project is to make it more energy
efficient and to include the automation of windows of the room as well.

Project summary:

Circuit1: Automatic control of lights inside the room according to the natural light
intensity.

Circuit2: Automatic control of fan according to the ambient temperature inside the room.

Circuit3: Automatic control of windows during rain outside the room:

During rain outside the room the circuit attached to the circuit will be short circuited and
it will connect the stepper motor connected in the circuit directly to the supply. This
motor will close the motor so as to prevent the rain water from entering in the room as
per the requirement. The control of the motor can be achieved via programming a
microcontroller. The operation of the window can be made manual as well when
automatic control is not preferred.

 By including solar cell for dc supply to replace the battery in the above circuits we
can make this project more dependable.
 The solar tracking system can also include a tracking mechanism so as to improve its
performance throughout the day.
