 "There is / there are" Türkçede "var" anlamına gelir.

Tekiller ve sayılamayan
isimler için "there is", çoğullar için ise "there are" kullanırız.

 There are animals in the forest. (Ormanda hayvanlar var.)

 There are flowers in the garden. (Bahçede çiçekler var.)
 There is a cat under the table. (Masanın altında bir kedi var.)
 There is a book on the bed. (Yatağın üstünde bir kitap var.)

 There is/there are ile soru yaparken is/are yardımcı fiilleri cümlenin başına
getirilerek yapılır.

 Are there animals in the forest? (Ormanda hayvanlar var mı?)

 Are there flowers in the garden? (Bahçede çiçekler var mı?)
 Is there a cat under the table? (Masanın altında kedi var mı?)
 Is there a book on the bed? (Yatağın üstünde kitap var mı?)

 Olumsuz cümle there isn’t/ there aren’t ile yapılır ve Türkçeye “yok” olarak
çevrilir.

 There aren’t animals in the forest. (Ormanda hayvanlar yok.)

 There aren’t flowers in the garden. (Bahçede çiçekler yok.)
 There isn’t a cat under the table. (Masanın altında kedi yok.)
 There isn’t a book on the bed. (Yatağın üstünde kitap yok.)
