ABSTRAK
Soil stabilization aimed at improving the physical properties of soil which was originally bad to be
better. Poor road subgrade can be improved physical properties with chemical stabilization
(bitumen). Good subgrade conditions can reduce the thickness of pavement layer on top, but the
stabilization of bitumen has different requirements with other chemical stabilizing agent. Laboratory
research methods followed the ways of Highways (Bina Marga), the soil that will be stabilized, taken
from the area of East Java Pandaan for tested Atterberg , proctor and CBR tests. Then the soil was
mixed with various levels of bitumen at 2%, 3%, 4%, 5%, 6%, after that do a test Atterberg, Proctor
and CBR.
