CAN U GUESS??
• One of the leading producer of computer
products in the world.
• The “OS” developed by this company is widely
used in the world.
Microsoft Corporation
• It was established on April 4, 1975 to develop
and sell BASIC interpreters for the Altair 8800,
Microsoft rose to dominate the home
computer operating system market with MS-
DOS in the mid-1980s, followed by the
Microsoft Windows line of operating systems.
• Paul Allen and Bill Gates sharing the title
partners.
Evolution of Microsoft Logo
1975
• Microsoft introduced its first logo in 1975.
• Allen and Gates named their partnership as
Micro-Soft which explains the first logo of the
company.
1975
• The logo was changed in that year itself and
dropped the hyphen between “micro” and
“soft”.
• The logo continued to exist for the next 12
years.
• The logo had a distinctive O. The employees
called this as “Blibbet”.
• When a new logo came on in 1987, there was
a campaign within the company to “Save the
Blibbet”. But, this couldn’t stop the company
from adopting a new logo.
1987
• In 1987 Microsoft adopted the new logo
designed by Scott Baker.
• This logo came to be known as “the Pacman
logo” due to the distinctive cut in the O.
1994
• In 1994, they integrated their tagline ‘Where
do you want to go today?’ within the logo.
• This was widely mocked and the company
kept trying different taglines like People
Ready, Start Something, Making it Easier etc.
2008
• The new 2008 logo has all the text in Italics
(including the tagline), but the look of the logo
has remained pretty much the same.
• Basically, the company is so well renowned
already, that I don’t think the logo needs to
change, since people already recognize and
connect with it worldwide.
