SECTION - A (READING) (10 MARKS)
Al Read the following passage carefully.
Humayun was the king of Hindustan. Sher Shah was his enemy.
It was the month of August. Humayun was returning to Delhi after a
battle. He had a small army with him. It was raining heavily.
On the way, Sher Shah and his army attacked Humayun and his
soldiers. Humayun managed to escape with a few of his officers. They
had to cross the river on horseback. But Humayun’s horse tripped and
he fell into the swollen river. A water carrier saw that the king was
about to drown. He jumped into the river with his leather water bag. The
bag was full of air and it floated on the river. He put the tired king on
the water bag and saved his life. Humayun was grateful and said, ‘You
have saved my life. Tell me what I can do for you.”
‘Your majesty, he said, ‘make me king for three hours.’
The next day, for three hours the water carrier became king. He sat on
the throne. The king’s courtiers asked him. ‘What are your orders?’
The new king said, ‘Make coins from my water bag; these will be the
coins in my kingdom.ALL
