On 05-20-2011, at about 10:36pm, officers conducted a felony stop on a vehicle which was occupied by three
individuals one of which was William Corey Jackson. (DOB 05-22-1977) William Jackson was being sought by
officers of the Geneva Police Department for a Felony Complaint for Robbery 1st regarding an incident which took
place on 05-20-2011 at about 2:49am. During the course of the stop the driver and front seat passenger were ordered to
exit the vehicle to which they complied. As officers approached the vehicle to take Mr. Jackson into custody an officer
observed him repeatedly reaching under the seat. The officer then observed Mr. Jackson turn towards another officer
with what appeared to be a weapon. The officer then discharged his firearm shooting through the rear window of the
vehicle striking Mr. Jackson. A knife, and two cell phones, was located in the area that Mr. Jackson occupied. Medical
assistance was called to the scene and Mr. Jackson was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital where he remains in
guarded condition.

Chief Pane contacted the Ontario Count Sherriff’s office to conduct an independent investigation into the shooting and
the results of the Sherriff’s Departments investigation will be turned over to the Ontario County District Attorney’s
Office for review.

No further information will be provided at this time pending the conclusion of the Sherriff’s Departments investigation
into the incident.
