July 29, 2011 Media Release Re: Auburn Gas Station Robbed Police Looking for Suspect

On Friday July 29, 2011 at approximately 3:55am Auburn Police were dispatched to 302 Genesee Street, the Red Apple Kwik Fill Gas Station and Convience Store on the report of a strong arm robbery. Upon arrival the store clerk advised responding Officers that a black male had entered the store and approached the counter attempting to purchase a soda with loose change. When the clerk opened the register to conduct the transaction she stated the black male ran around the counter and forcefully told the clerk to get out of the way. It is reported that the black male then took an undisclosed amount of cash from the opened register and then ran out of the store. It is believed that the black male proceeded on foot eastbound on Genesee St. and then possibly ran south onto Van Patten Street. The black male suspect is described as being about 40 years of age, 58-59 tall, having a medium build and having a scruffy short beard with gray hair in the beard. The suspect is described as wearing a hunter green hoodie worn up over his head with white lettering on the front, light colored possibly silver basketball style shorts and white socks with no shoes. The Auburn Police Department is asking for the publics assistance with identifying this suspect.
