On April 2, 2010, at 6:36 a.m. the Beaverton Police Department received a call of a
sexual assault that had just occurred. Police were told a young woman had been walking
to work from the Beaverton Transit Center and was attacked on SW Canyon Road near
the 217 overpass.
Beaverton detectives are actively working this case and learning more details. However,
things are still in the infancy stage. Investigators have learned that a 20 year old woman
was walking east on SW Canyon Road. As she walked under the 217 overpass she was
approached by a man brandishing a knife. He sexually assaulted the victim, on the
sidewalk, in plain view. Immediately Right afterwards the suspect ran away the young
woman ran to work for help.
The victim's name and place of business will not be released, for safety reasons. This was
a stranger to stranger attack and the suspect is still at large. He was described as an
African American man, in his 30's, bald/shaved head, 6'0', 185-200 lbs, wearing a dark
grey hoodie, blue jeans and light colored shoes. He is still believed to be in possession of
the knife.
