    While watching the film, please think about written version we have read. Use the following questions to
    help you make connections between the film and the play. Choose four questions to respond to from the
    list. On the front and back of this page or a separate sheet, please write down the number of the question
    and answer in complete sentences. Be sure to provide specific examples from the movie and/or written
    version in your response.

    1. How does the director establish and continue the idea of rival gangs?
    2. What are your impressions of Romeo? Juliet? Have they changed throughout the film?
    3. What impression do we get of the families in the film? Who are the Montagues? Who are the Capulets?
    What makes them similar and/or different?
    4. How is music used in the film? Does it serve a different purpose in different scenes?
    5. Is this audience encouraged to sympathize with one family over the other, Montagues or Capulets?
    6. What is the purpose of color in the film? Do we associate different colors with different emotions,
    characters, or scenes?
    7. Unlike in a stage production, movies can portray the action with different settings. Do the set/setting
    switches enhance or detract from the plot? Why/why not?
