3TU What is this research all about? This study is part of a larger research programme called Working Late and seeks to explore the benefits and obstacles to working up to and beyond state pension age. It will also examine the balance between work and other personal commitments and the effect that perceptions of older people may have in relation to securing work. As the working population continues to age the contribution of older workers is of greater than ever importance. What will be required if I agree to take part? We would like to invite you to take part in an interview so that you can tell us about your experiences as a worker aged over 50 years. This interview will last between 30 minutes and an hour. We would like to talk to you about topics such as: Your experiences of working after the age of 50 Your views in relation to the training and promotion opportunities available to you How you balance your working time with other responsibilities that you may have

Benefits of taking part in this research This research will help us to understand aspects of work that affect those aged 50 years and over and their employers. The results will help policy makers to develop guidance to support the inclusion and well being of older workers in the workplace. Confidentiality All the information collected during the course of the research will be kept strictly confidential. All references to individuals or organisations in any report and subsequent publications will be anonymous. The information will be kept in a secure location, accessible only by the researcher and all of the data will be stored in line with the Universitys Data Protection policy.
