Whats New? August Character Trait is COOPERATION!! Weekly Assessments Wednesday Editing Quiz Thursday Spelling Test Friday Math Quiz

Dear Parents, Its hard to believe the first week of school is already over. We spent the week getting to know each other, organizing our take-home binders, spelling folders, writing notebooks, and reading notebooks --- and learning too. We learned about adjectives, compound sentences, summarizing, place value, subtracting with zeros, multiplying with zeros, and balancing math equations. Students also took math and reading inventories to help me begin planning lessons to best meet their academic needs. We definitely hit the ground running. I hope your child is enjoying his/her 4th grade year so far. This is an amazing class they receive compliments everywhere they go. Im so excited for the potential in our room. Please know that I welcome your input and know that you know your child best. Together, we can make this an amazing year for your child. Thank you for sharing him/her with me. P.S. Thank you for attending parent orientation last week or for stopping by the classroom to meet me if you couldnt attend. Having involved parents indicates a positive school year for me. Im so excited about that. Speaking of involved parents, your support in joining PTA would be much appreciated.

Reminder
Please remember that your child is expected to read 20 minutes 4-5 nights a week. Reading logs are due each Monday. Its best if he/she practices reading aloud. Research indicates it helps with fluency and comprehension. Practice makes perfect.
