Abstract

In today's INFORMATION driven business world, technology is becoming the key underlying factor for its success and competitive advantage over its rivals. Sustaining this competitive edge in dynamic environment of emerging new Information Technologies is a challenge. For non-IT organisations (or not very competent in required domain), this may deviate them from their main course of business objectives and areas of core competence. For these organisations to leverage the benefits of IT, outsourcing is the remedy. This management project covers various aspects associated with IT outsourcing with respect to buyers and vendors. The literature review covers the details about the best methodology, processes and frameworks used by IT department for implementation of the projects. It also covers different Strategic Management tools and techniques and its usage in analysing organisation capabilities and requirements. It analyses the current state of buyer and vendor organisations involved in outsourcing, their opinion about this mode of implementation. Further, different modes of outsourcing - onsite and offshore are also analysed. Strategic Management tools and techniques are used to analyse the existing external and internal environment factors influencing the act of outsourcing. The tools and techniques are further used to propose a strategic model to assist an organisation in their decision-making for in-house development or outsource.
