Position Summary Provide culturally sensitive and appropriate services to Native American families in need of foster care, with a goal of family reunification and in compliance with State of Michigan Licensing Rules and Regulations. Job Complexity Design and implement treatment programs for parents who are in crisis. Monitor and report progress to local Probate and Tribal Courts, meet with Tribal Welfare Committee members to discuss family reunification. Foster care case maintenance, such as: visitation, transportation, reports, court preparation and testimony, referrals for services. Preparation of case plan with the involvement of the family and other relevant parties, appropriate and sensitive to the needs of the child and family. Complete all training required by licensing rules and regulations. Accountability Will conduct self in a professional and ethical manner at all times, in a manner consistent with Social Worker Code of Ethics. Required to maintain strict confidentiality of information. Must perform duties within State of Michigan Rules and Regulations. Must be culturally sensitive. Contacts MICWA staff, foster/adoptive families, FIA staff, Court personnel, Tribal Social Services and Tribal Courts. Working Conditions/Safety Hazards A large amount of time will be spent in families homes, with children and families. Job Specifications Bachelors degree in social work or related field. Must have adequate transportation and be able to travel frequently in down state areas. Must successfully complete and pass a background check showing no convictions other that minor traffic violations. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
