Q1. Is UPS using IT efficiently in their business? Q2. How can they improve their customer oriented services under current circumstances and IT availability?
Answer (Q1): UPS uses IT efficiently for managing their operations.UPS is using ISPS technology. I SPS is international shipping processing system, which facilitates the parcel delivery system. Ups has invested 1.5 billion$ for I.T to increase the efficiency of its parcel delivery system. It includes tracking system for parcels, trucks and Automated Flat Sorting Machine (AFSM) and digital signature of customer or receiver. AFSM is used for sorting the mail on the basis of their address and sent them into their respective boxes. Tracking system includes GPS which locate the location of trucks. Digital Signature directly communicates to customer care which provides information to customer.

Answer (Q2): UPS also have some problem in parcel delivery. They can improve their customer oriented services by using the modern technology. These are Uncoded Address Resolution System (UARS) and intelligent mail. UARS enables Customers who use the address element correction program the option to submit unresolved addresses for carrier resolution. Intelligent mail is standardized, data-rich, machine-readable codes to make each mailing piece unique and trackable. These enable UPS as More customer oriented More unique for each mail Provide easily and correct information Economically and efficiently facilitate operations
