RISK ASSESSMENT FOR: Rock Climbing


Location: Undercover rock Bristol

Risks to: Me, Students, teachers, instructors and the members of the public. Nature of Activity: climbing up an indoor climbing wall. HAZARD ANALYSIS Significant Hazards: RISK H/M/L H M H H H L M M L L M L L M

Not doing the figure of 8 correctly. Object falling out of your pocket and hitting some one. Falling on some one. Partner not holding the rope properly. Rope breaking. Hitting your head on the wall. Not paying attention to the instructors. Old equipment could be damaged. Not having the correct shoes. Getting rope burn. Not having your harness on properly. Not having the correct clothing. Grazing you hands when you fall. Dehydration CONTROL MEASURES

Make sure you can do the figure of 8 and if not ask some one how work there to help you. Take the object out of your pocket and put it in a locker. Make sure no one is below you. Make sure you have a partner you can trust. Make sure the rope is strong and safe before climbing. Make sure you wear a helmet. Pay more attention to the instructor. Make sure all of the equipment is safe to use before climbing. Make sure you have the correct type of shoes. Make sure your paying attention and that youre holding the rope in the correct way. Ask an instructor if you have done it correctly. Make sure your clothing is easy to move in. Then you slip keep you hands away from the wall. Make sure you have a drink before you climb.
