    PRACTICAL 1

    OBJECT:
    To verify velocity ratio equation for Simple Gear Train

    APPARATUS:
    Gear Train Apparatus, Tachometer, Electric Motor

    PROCEDURE:
    1) Set up the gear train apparatus and an electric motor. 2) Measure the number of teeth of all the gears of gear train. 3) Connect the motor to external power supply and turn it on. 4) Electric motor has a constant speed N1 and a gear is attached to its shaft which has fixed number of teeth T1. 5) The gear mounted on the shaft of electric motor is meshed with a gear on gear train. 6) The speed of gear train shaft is measured using tachometer. 7) Verify velocity ration equation as N2 / N1 = T1 / T2 where T2 and N2 are number of teeth and gear speed in r.p.m respectively of gear of the gear train. 8) Repeat the same procedure for other gears of the gear train.
