Definition of Industrial Design

It is the part of production which relates to the asthetics, ornamental, and usability of the product. Meaning, a product needs to be presented to user in usable form which gives an appealing look and is comfortable to user and easy to manifacture by production unit. Industrial Design motivates engineer to devolope our product in that form.

Definition as per the governing bodies:

ICSID, (International Council of Societies of Industrial Design) Design is a creative activity whose aim is to establish the multi-faceted qualities of objects, processes, services and their systems in whole lifecycles. Therefore, design is the central factor of innovative humanization of technologies and the crucial factor of cultural and economic exchange.

IDSA (Industrial Design Society of America) Industrial Design (ID) is the professional service of creating and developing concepts and specifications that optimize the function, value and appearance of products and systems for the mutual benefit of both user and manufacturer.

WIPO - World Intellectual Property Organization An industrial design is the ornamental or aesthetic aspect of an article. The design may consist of three-dimensional features, such as the shape or surface of an article, or of two-dimensional features, such as patterns, lines or color.
