you have read so far in The Outsiders. Then, take your time responding to the following in your journals. PART 1: How do the stereotypes make you feel? How do you think a stereotype might cause someone to act unfairly toward another person? PART 2: Think and write about a time when someone made a biased/stereotypical judgment about you or acted unfairly to you (or someone close to you) because of your age, skin color, clothes you were wearing, the way you speak, where you live, how much money your family has, or some other reason. How did you know that you were being unfairly judged? What words or actions were directed at you because of assumptions or stereotypes? How did the experience make you feel? PART 3: How can you and others work to reduce stereotyping and unfair judging?

Outsiders Journaling Extra Credit #2 Look at Robert Frosts poem, Nothing Gold Can Stay, in chapter 5. Reread the section where Ponyboy recites this poem to Johnny as they are watching the sunrise one morning at the abandoned church. Part 1: Read the poem closely and analyze it line by line for its meaning. Part 2: Why do you think this poem has significance in The Outsiders?
