    Which needs must the product satisfy? Which minor functions are incorporated in the product? What is the demand to good operation facilities? What is the expected lifetime? Restrictions on size and / or weight? Which environmental demands must be fulfilled? Which environment/ surroundings does the product enter into?

    Symbolic values /communication


    What is the message in the design? Which values must be included?

    What is the basic idea in the product?

    Beauty value /aesthetics


    Form? Material? Colour? Surface? Sound, smell, touch?
