Number 9`s Response to Number 3`s Literacy Memoir

I think that this person gives a success story more than anything else. He talks about how
he enjoys certain types oI writing, like poetry and Iree Ilow narratives, but then he also mentions
that he doesn`t always like writing and reading. He said that he just tried in the English classes
that he had because the classes were required to graduate and because you need to be able to read
and write in order to get a job. This person also shows that the realize the value oI writing
because he talks about how blessed we are to have a Iree education in America and how he
knows that 70 years ago he may not have had the opportunity to read and write.
I think that this person gives a 'little narrative because he is pretty speciIic about his
writing experiences and he describes his English classes in each grade and how each class
aIIected him and his writing. He also gives many examples oI the things that he struggled with,
the things he didn`t really learn, and the things that he enjoyed. He also described his reading
experience in a very speciIic way. He talked about how he used to lock himselI in his room and
read Harry Potter books in three days, and he explained how he Ielt while reading the books.
This person also gave an example oI his worst procrastination ever, and he told us the speciIic
types oI writing that he enjoyed and why he enjoyed it.
This person is valuing the importance oI writing and how lucky we are to have public
education and to have schools close by to us. He knows that it is important to have a large
vocabulary and that you are much more likely to get a successIul job is you are a talented
reader/writer. This person seems to be missing out on the many types oI writing that are there to
explore because he hasn`t put much extra eIIort into his writing and English classes. There is a
lot oI room to grow in writing no matter what grades you are getting.
I think that this person has a pretty good tone towards writing and that he respects it even
though he may not enjoy it. The main thing that this person should Iocus on this semester is
brainstorming beIore starting to write and exploring deeply into diIIerent types oI writing. He
should also expand their vocabulary and give the class more attention than he has given classes
in the past. I think that the extra eIIort will help him the most this semester.
