KINDERGARTEN

NEWS December 9, 2011

Religion
This week we studied the birth of John; his parents, Zechariah & Elizabeth; Gabriels message to Mary; and Marys magnificant! We also enjoyed learning some new Christmas hymns and have been working hard on our songs for the Christmas program! In Chapel we shared three of our songs, celebrated Baptism Birthdays and listened to Pastor Nuckols share some special information about Elizabeth, Mary, baby John and Jesus! Next week we will hear the story of the very first Christmas and learn more about the shepherds and the others who shared this special gift of

Math
We enjoyed playing some new games this week! Our star fill-in game and Kindergarten Yahtzee! Ask you child to tell you about these! We practiced counting by 2s, 10s and ones to 100 this week! We also enjoyed making various patterns, adding, subtracting and writing the date in a new way! Ask your child what their favorite item on their calendar clipboard is this month! J

Language
We made such a long list of L words! We loved writing our own lists, working in our word journals and creating some lovely letters! We have begun practicing the lowercase letters in handwriting. Please keep encouraging your child to use their neatest writing in all they do! We also practiced listening to beginning and ending sounds in words! Keep reading those AR books! This is also the time to start thinking about a goal for the upcoming 3rd quarter! Next week we will study the letter D!
