Coke and Mentos

Goal The purpose of this experiment is to perform and examine a real life experiment on the chemical changes when mentos and diet coke were to be added together.

Materials A packet of mentos A bottle of diet coke An empty glass Safety goggles

Procedure 1. Safety goggles must be worn before attempting the experiment. 2. Pour the diet coke in the empty glass. Observe and take down results.

3. Place the mentos into the glass of diet coke. 4.Stand at a safe position and observe. 5. Take down observations.

Diet Coke transparent; a dark red colour very close to black. small bubbles that float to the suface,temperature is cold. Surface is very bubbly and is a cream colour.

Before experiment

Hard; blue. Slightly squishy and cold. Round and like an oval pill.

After experiment

releases more bubbles and it makes a fizzing noise. It is 1% warmer

Covered in bubbles. It is slowly getting smaller and losing its colour.
