Once Gandhiji said, The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others. The Social Welfare ministry of Fr. Agnel School has started its mission with this goal to lose itself for others. Any decision that was taken or a new thing that was introduced was for the benefit of others. The ministry has worked in three ways. It worked for the benefit of the students of the school, to keep the elderly people happy and to keep the environment clean and healthy. During this year, the ministry has started a drive to eliminate aerated drinks. It has succeeded in achieving this goal. Elderly people are the asset of our society. As they have become old and the younger generation do not have time to spend with them, the elderly people are sent to old age homes. The idea of sending them to old age homes is to keep them with the people of their time.

They long for the love and affection of the younger generation. Our visit to the old age home- Panchvati was a great experience. As this is an annual affair, it is an immense pleasure meeting the elderly and hearing their experience. This would have some influence of our attitude towards love and sharing.

As we know, Cleanliness is next to Godliness. We found it essential to keep our school canteen clean. The Clean Canteen drive has started yielding results. We still look forward for an absolutely clean canteen. Health is Wealth. So we have revised the menu of the canteen with many healthy items.

The Health and Sanitation program organized by Ministry of Human Resource and Development was attended by the members of the ministry. The programme concentrated on the health and sanitation in schools. The information and the posters gathered from this workshop were disseminated to the other students of the school to keep them aware of these issues. The old books and clothes were collected from the students and distributed to the needy. Apart from all these, we routinely make the students aware of various social issues through announcements. The vision for the future is to inculcate the very idea that We are the society and the Society is ours. This leads to the basic understanding of our life. Whatever we do for the society is for ourselves. We need to carry forward this in the years to come. Aaron Alfred Social Welfare Minister
