Marie- Burkina Faso
Volunteering is not common in our
country. Especially for students.
The project I am going to talk about
is young civil servants project for
the promotion of peace among the
Burkinabe ethnic groups (MPAP). It
is very relevant in our context.
They organise sensitization days
on tolerance and direct talks and
debates to allow people express
their feelings/frustration and the
guilty eventually apologize. They
are doing an amazing work. I
joined them last August. As I was
on holidays I was very active.
Road construction

Rebuild my community After the earthquake in 2010 all the

citizens in my area decided to be
volunteers to rebuild our neighborhood.
We started with a program which was
called Reconstruct our roads. Everyone
was volunteer to contribute to that
project. We finally rebuilt almost all the
roads that the earthquake had destroyed.

Program: “Istiqbolli avlod” (Prospective generation program) NGO
● This program deals with many issues in general,
mostly human trafficking emphasizing children.
● The wellbeing of the vulnerable mothers and babies.
● Contraceptive health.

For over 20 years, the Center has been active in human trafficking and other types of violence.
The activity of the Center is aimed not only at assisting victims of human trafficking and other
types of violence but also at increasing the legal literacy of the population, informing vulnerable
segments of the community, slowing down the spread of HIV infections, carrying out preventive
work among the general population and developing a volunteer movement. I have also served as a
volunteer in several projects during my University years in this organization.

characters of the students after High school exams. Of course this

From Komsomol to Republican Youth Union
The idea of the organization is to unite the youth of the country and involve in
socially significant projects, promote patriotism. Activities may include visiting
veterans, charity concerts, cleaning the surrounding and etc. The idea of the
project might seem a win-win both for the society and for the youth, however
the real objective is to control, lead the youth to the ideas that our government
consider important: obedience, love for the country and president. Nowadays
government is implementing the system where participants of this organization
will receive additional bonuses which will help them to enter the university.
Rey-Panama

Project Name: Ni Uno Más / Not One More

This is an anti-bullying program led by high school students

from a Jewish academy in Panama City. They visit school all
over the country delivering speeches to prevent bullying.

I think one of the key components of the project that has

made it successful is that the leaders use themselves as
examples, also they provide tentative solutions to this

Helen / Latvia
A youth-led NGO “Orange” organizes a lot of volunteer events. For instance, they hold a
book fair every couple of months. People can donate and share books they don’t need, instead
of throwing them in trash. They also invite people to donate presents for seasonal events and
get these presents to the senior houses, etc.
What made it successful? - it was posted on social media, it addressed different groups of
people and ages.
What community needs were being met? - sharing, clean environment, attention to seniors
In our school I remember we organized Old CD auction.Students brought their old CDs and
DVDs and dropped in the box and later we decorated the school. This was to attract attention
to environmental issues.

Masibulele, South Africa

SAEP (South African Education Project) is a South African youth

education project that seeks to provide access to education for every
child. It is a Non-Profit Organisation. They provide a holistic
education program through personalized tutoring, life skills
education and reading.

They are successful because of the South African context where

there are major issues of Access and Equity in education. It is a
worthwhile project as it addresses the most common issue for South
African children, which is lack of access to quality education.
