INTRODUCTION
Direction is the process of instructing, guiding, counselling, motivating, and leading the human resource to achieve organization

The directing function thus, involves: telling people what is to be done and explaining to them how to do it; issuing instructions and orders to subordinates to carry out their assignments as scheduled; supervising their activities; inspiring them to meet the mangers expectation and contribute towards the achievement of organisational objectives; and providing leadership.

IMPORTANCE
Direction initiates actions :Through direction, management conveys and motivates individuals in the organisation to function in the desired way to get organisational objectives.

Direction integrates employees efforts:For achieving organisational objectives, individuals need not only to be efficient, but effective also. Direction attempts to get maximum out of individuals:Every individual in the organisation has some potentiality and capability which, in the absence of proper motivation, leadership, and communication-all element of direction may not be utilised fully.

Direction facilitates changes in the organisation: There are changes in organisation structure and in individuals. To incorporate and implement these changes, management should motivate individuals affected by these changes, which is an essential part of direction. Direction provides stability and balance in the organisation

Effective leadership, communication and motivation, provide stability in the organisation and maintain balances in the different part of the organisation.
