MEANING OF WORKFORCE DIVERSITY


IT REFERS TO THE WAY IN WHICH PEOPLE IN A WORKPLACE ARE SIMILAR & DIFFERENT FROM ONE ANOTHER. IN ADDITION TO THE CHARACTERISTICS PROTECTED BY LAW, OTHER SIMILARITIES & DIFFERENCES COMMONLY CITED INCLUDE BACKGROUND, EDUCATION, LANGUAGE SKILLS, PERSONALITY & WORK ROLE. OR WORK FORCE DIVERSITY ENCOMPASSES EVERYTHING THAT VARIES FROM THE SO CALLED NORMS.

THE MANAGER MUST LEARN TO RESPECT THE DIVERSITY. HE HAS TO RECOGNIZE THE DIFFERENCES OF DIFFERENT EMPLOYEES & RESPOND TO THEM ACCORDINGLY WHICH WILL ENSURE EMPLOYEE SATISFACTION. AN INCREASINGLY WORKFORCE DIVERSITY PRESENTS BOTH OPPORTUNITIES & CHALLENGES FOR THE ORGANIZATION.

IN SHORT, WE CAN SAY THAT WORK DIVERSITY IS NEEDED TO BE CARE OF. EMPLOYERS THUS, NEED TO ADUST EMERGING WORKFORCE EXPECTATIONS BY REPLACING COMMAND & CONTROL LEADERSHIP WITH EMPOWERMENT GIVING MORE FREEDOM & POWER TO THE EMPLOYEES.
