First generation
1946-1955 Vaccum tubes

Advantage:
It was the fastest one

Disadvantage:
Generate heat It is frequently failure Very large in size ,not fortable

Second Generation
1955-64 Transistors Advantage:
Eliminated the drawbacks of 1st generation

Disadvantage:
Highly technology required

III Generation
1964-70 LSI(large Scale integration ) Advantage:
100s of circuits on one small electronic chip

Disadvantage:

IV Generation
1970-85 VLSI(very large Scale integration ) Advantage:
1000s of circuits on electronic chip

Disadvantage:

V Generation
1985-present Microprocessors Advantage:
Millions of instructions per second
