<Starting Music TV Patrol> Ranica: Good Morning, Philippines. Im Ranica Marie M. Verzosa your news anchor for today. Now for our latest news for today. Ranica: Police officials confirmed that unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen shot dead an Italian priest, Fr. Fausto Tentorio, right in front of his parish church in Arakan town in North Cotabato on October 17, 2011. Here is Antoinette Gador, live in Cotabato City. Abby. Abby: Yes, Ran. Im right here in Cotabato City and here is Senior Supt. Cornelio Salinas, director of the Cotabato provincial police. Supt. Cornelio Salinas, What can you say about the incident? Francis: Our personnel have already responded and they are now conducting follow-up operation against the perpetrators. Abby: Supt. Salinas, What was the firearm used in the incident? Francis: The firearm used in the shooting could be a 9mm pistol as revealed by bullet shells recovered in the crime scene. Fr. Fausto Tentorio was about to ride his service vehicle parked in front of the Arakan Parish Church at around 8:30 a.m. when gunmen approached him and immediately pumped bullets on his body. Abby: So, where was he taken after that, Supt. Salinas? Francis: Fr. Tentorio was taken to the Antipas Medical Specialist hospital where he succumbed to bullet wounds. Abby: Thank you so much Supt. Cornelio Salinas. And now we have a phone call from Supt. Resty Damaso, spokesman of the Central Mindanao regional police.

Abby: Supt. Resty Damaso? Good Afternoon, sir. What can you say regarding the incident that happened? Dats: Fr. Fausto Tentorio was pronounced dead on arrival because based on our initial reports, he suffered eight gunshot wounds. Abby: Sir, did you find out who are the people involved in it? Dats: The gunmen escaped using motorcycle. We are still undergoing a search for the suspect. Abby: Thank you so much Supt. Resty Damaso for that. This is Antoinette Gador live in Cotabato City. Back to you Ran. Ran: Thank you Abby. Now heres a break before we interview Arakan municipal councilor Leonardo Bobong Reovoco. <Advertisement Cornetto> Ran: Now we are back for our news update about the incident happened in Arakan Cotabato. Now heres Johannah Datumanong live in Arakan municipal. Jo: Yes, Ran. Good Afternoon, everyone. Im live here in the Arakan municipal and heres Arakan municipal councillor Leonardo Bobong Reovoca, former parish worker of the Diocese of Kidapawan. Jo: Councilor Leonardo Bobong Reovoca, what can you say about the incident? Wilbur: The suspect was wearing a crash helmet and walked away casually from the crime scene to a parked motorcycle after making sure his target was dead. Jo: How about the motorcycle used by the suspect, councilor? Wilbur: The motorcycle was seen just few meters away from the churchs compound. But since the suspect was wearing a helmet, nobody was able to recognize his face. The priest was supposed to attend the regular clergy meeting of the Diocese of Kidapawan at the Bishops Palace in Kidapawan City when the incident happened. Jo: Councilor Leonardo, what do you think is the reason why Father Fausto was shot? What was the motive behind the murder?

Wilbur: Father Fausto was a staunch anti-mining advocate since he started his parish work in Arakan town. I am a witness to Father Faustos strong stance against mining and other projects which are not sustainable and would harm and affect the indigenous peoples in particular. Wilbur: The priest was also active in the campaign on law and order in Arakan town. Just recently, Father Fausto was appointed as head of a civil society-led Anti-Criminality Task Force in Arakan. Police were investigating the incident to establish the motive behind the killing. Jo: Thank you so much, Councilor Leonardo Bobong Reovoca for that information. As we all know, Father Fausto became the second PIME priest who was killed while doing missionary in North Cotabato. The first was Father Tulio Favali who was killed in 1984 in Tulunan town. This is Johannah Datumanong live in Arakan municipal. Back to you, Ran. Ran: Thank you so much, Jo and thank you so much Councilor Leonardo Bobong Reovoca. Many people mourn because of the death of Father Fausto Tentorio. As what Kidapawan Bishop Romulo Dela Cruz said that Fr. Fausto is a very peaceful man. Let us all pray for the soul of Father Fausto Tentorio. Ran: Thank you for watching our latest news for today. This is Ranica Marie M. Verzosa, always in service for the betterment of the people. Once again, Good Afternoon. <Ending Music TV Patrol>
