Spring Semester Friendship Group 2012

The semester series is back. Groups will be formed based on age and gender and will not change for the entire semester. Having the same group members together for a semester is beneficial. The kids get to know one another better. As the facilitator, this gives me the opportunity to observe some of the same friendship problems that arise in other environments and teach students alternatives to practice. Group members will learn and practice social initiation skills, social response skills, self assessment, positive self expression, conflict resolution and navigating difficult friends. Students will learn skills to improve social interaction with peers while building self confidence and resiliency. Students practice skills learned through role play vignettes developed by peers. The role plays are videotaped and reviewed so students can see how their interactions may be impacting their friendships. Students are inspired when they see themselves on video, positively handling a difficult social situation. Educational groups are not covered by insurance.
