Introduction

Background of the Study

In our life we encounter different stages where every stages teaches us a good or bad

values/lessons. One of the stages we encounter along the journey of life is the relationship.

Relationship is very rampant now a days. Human has different kind of personalities, perceptions,

beliefs about relationships. Relationship can be in any form, it can be friend relationship, family

relationship, but the most often one is the romantic relationship with someone. In teenagers having

a relationship with opposite or same gender is quite unusual but also fascinating. The time when

you have first crush, held someone’s hand and feel butterflies in your stomach these are just some

experiences that most of the teenagers perspective in having a relationship with someone. As

teenagers develop, the creation of peer relationships-both for friendship and romantic relationships

becomes increasingly important as teenagers mature physically and emotionally, and explore how

the romance factors into their emergent identities.

In the past, most Cambodian people had a belief that it was not proper to have a romantic

relationship while studying since, these teenage relationships normally provided many

disadvantages for their studies and futures for instances they might be involved in dating in other

affairs rather than concentrating on their education. Significantly, in some cases, some

relationships sometimes leads to adolescent pregnancy outside marriage which is against societal

norms and Cambodian culture as a result, almost all Cambodian parents have imposed restrictions
on their children not to be involved in romantic relationship or love affairs, particularly during the

time they have to focus on their studies. ( Ly Muychrea, San Vatanak, and Tep Sopheavatey, 2018)

In Philippines teenagers now a days are already in the state of mutual relationship with

their opposite sex due to their uncontrolled feelings with one another. Young men Filipinos thinks

that they are not men without having girlfriends, while young Filipinas also thinks that they are

not ladies without having a relationship with man.
