BSNL, Rajasthan Telecom. Circle invites applications in the prescribed proforma (typed on A4 size

3. Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/Physical Handicapped (PH):
Abbreviations. OC (Other caste i.e. unreserved), OBC (Other Backward Class), SC (Scheduled Caste) &
ST (Scheduled Tribe).
a) Reservation as per Central Govt. guidelines for SC/ST/OBC/Physical Handicapped (PH)/EX-Service
Men.
b) In respect of Physically Handicapped persons, candidates with following physical disability will be
permitted:
i) Hearing impairment. – Partially Deaf.
ii) Locomotive Impairment - OL ( One leg affected, R or L), FT ( Limited exercise to tolerance
early) or BL (Both legs affected but no arms should be effected).
(The minimum degree of disability is 40% in order for a person to be eligible for any Concession/
benefits).
c) 3% reservation for PH person shall be as per provision laid in DOT letter no. 1-8/2001-AD
(SNG) dated 18.10.2001 & 21.04.2003.
d) 10% of total vacancies are reserved for Ex. Servicemen as per the provision of Govt. of India
rules.
4. Scale of Pay:- Rs. 7100-200-10100 + D.P. + usual allowances as per rules.
5. Eligibility:-
(a) Nationality:- Only Indian Nationals would be eligible to apply.
(b) Qualification:- Applicant must possess as on 07.11.2008, the educational qualification in
the following disciplines from the recognized Institute/ University:
a) Three years Engineering Diploma in
- Telecommunications Engineering.
- Electronics Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Radio Engineering
- Computer Engineering
- Instruments Technology
- Information Technology
b) M.Sc (Electronics) from a recognized institution/University.
Note:
a) There is no equivalence provided.
b) The candidates possessing higher qualification in the eligibility stream are allowed to appear in
the examination.
c) Candidate possessing Three Year Diploma certificates are eligible to appear in the Exam
irrespective of percentage of marks obtained by them.
d) In case of candidate possessing requisite certificate qualification, irrespective of having entered
the course in the 2nd year through lateral entry level after 10+2, he/she will be eligible to appear
in the exam.
6. Age Limit for direct recruit:-
a. The applicant should be between 18 to 27 years of age as on 07.11.2008
b. However, this age is relaxable for following categories of applications
I. For Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes up to 5 years;
II. For OBC candidates up to 3 years;
III. For PH candidates up to 10 years (15 years for SC/ST and 13 years for OBC);
IV. For Departmental candidates-
- Up to 40 years in respect of general candidates
- Up to 45 years in respect of SC/ST candidates in accordance with the instructions
or orders issued by the Central Government.
- Up to 43 years in respect of OBC candidates.
V. For Residents of J&K – Relaxation shall be in accordamce with DoP&T O.M. No.
15012/7/1991-Est. (D) dated 6.12.2005pertaining to “Residents of State of Jammu and Kashmir
(Relaxation on Upper Age Limit for Recruitment to Central Civil Service & Posts) Rules
1997”.
 7. Examination Fee:-
a) The Examination fee of Rs.500/-(Five Hundred Only) is chargeable from the applicant which may be
acceptable in the form of Indian Postal Order/ Bank Draft along with the application form drawn in the
favour of “Accounts Officer (Cash), BSNL O/o CGMT, Rajasthan Telecom Circle Jaipur”, payable
at “Jaipur”. IPO/Bank Draft should be issued after the date of issue of the notification. Fee once paid
shall NOT be refunded under any Circumstances nor it can be held in reserve for any other
examination or selection. The amount of fee shall not be accepted in any other form.
b) No fee for the applicants of SC/ST categories.
c) Exemption from payment of examination fees is also available to the applicants of PH category. This
exemption will, however be available to only those handicapped persons who would otherwise be eligible
for appointment to the post on the basis of the standards of medical fitness prescribed for the post and
who enclose with the application form, necessary certificate from a Government Hospital/ Medical Board
in support of applicant’s claim for being handicapped, should be submitted.
8. Restriction of residence & Registration with Employment Exchange: There is no restriction of residence
or essential condition of registration with the Employment Exchange in the particular SSA in which the
applicant may apply. However, it would be preferable if the applicant has registration in the Employment
Exchange of the SSA concerned in which the applicant applies.
However in case two or more successful candidates show equal performance in the test and have same
qualification, experience, date of birth etc, preference may be given to those candidates who have registered
their names in the Employment Exchange of the concerned SSA in which they have applied.
9. An applicant is allowed to appear for examination against the vacancy of one SSA /Rectt. Unit only.
10. Medium of Examination:- Candidate will have the option to answer either in English or in Hindi.
11. Time table of Examination:-
a. There shall be only one Paper of multiple choice objective type of three hours duration. The examination
will be held on 11.01.2009 as per time table mentioned below :-

b. The scheme for DR TTA prescribes for one paper of 200 marks having objective multiple-choice pattern,
as such, the total number of questions in the paper should be 200 and each question shall carry one marks.
c. The standard of paper in General Ability test will be such as may be expected of an Engineering Diploma
holder. The standard of papers in other subject will approximately be that of Diploma level of an Indian
Polytechnic. In the Specialization Part-III, a candidate has to attempt a common set of questions from the
consolidated syllabus prescribed under Specialization Part-III.
12. Unit of recruitment & Service liability:- Telecom Technical Assistant (TTA) will be Secondary
Switching Area (SSA) cadres and the unit of recruitment shall be the respectiveSecondary Switching
Area (SSA) but transferable any where in Rajasthan. A TTA who has not completed the age of forty
years, if so required, will be liable to serve in the Territorial Army subject to the provisions of
Section 6A of the Territorial Army Act, 1948(58 of 1948) and the rules made there under. An
applicant can apply only for one SSA/ Rectt. Units. If any candidate apply for more than one
SSA/ Rectt. Unit or apply for SSA /Rectt. Units other than, mentioned in Col. No. 2 of Para 2,
his application will be rejected straight way without any correspondence by this Office.
13. Mode of selection:-
a) The selection will be through a open competitive examination followed by a medical test.
b) Minimum Qualifying marks in the paper will be 40% for the candidates of unreserved
communities and 33% for the candidates of SC/ST/OBC/PH category.
c) Relaxation of 2% in marks will be given to the Physically Handicapped Candidates in each
category (OC-PH, OBC-PH, SC-PH & ST-PH).
d) The minimum passing marks for each of the three parts of the paper will be prescribed by the
BSNL HQ New Delhi.
e) Merit List will be drawn SSA/Rectt.Unit wise.
f) Appointment and posting will be subject to successful completion of pre-appointment training,
other eligibility conditions and requirements.
 Detailed Syllabus

PART- I : GENERAL ABILITY TEST – 20 MARKS.

The candidate’s comprehension and understanding of General English shall be tested through simple exercise
such as provision of antonyms and synonyms, fill in the blanks and multiple-choice exercise etc. This shall
also include questions on current events, general knowledge and such matters of everday observation and
experiences as may be expected of Diploma holder.
PART- II. BASIC ENGINEERING - 90 MARKS
Detailed Syllabus is as under:-
1. Applied mathematics : Co-ordinate Geometry : Vector Algebra; Matrix and Determinant; Differential
Calculus; Integral Calculus: Differential equation of second order; Fourier series; Laplace Transform;
Complex Number, Partial Differentiation.
2. Applied Physics : Measurement-Units and Dimension; Waves, Acoustics, Ultrasonic, Light; Laser and
its Application, Atomic Structure and Energy Levels.
3. Basic Electricity : Electrostatics, Coulomb’s law, Electric field, Gauss’s theorem; concept of potential
difference; concept of capacitance and capacitors, Ohm’s law, power and energy, Kirchoff’s voltage,
current laws and their applications in simple DC circuits, Basic Magnetism; Electro Magnetism;
Electromagnetic Induction; Concept of alternating voltage & current; Cells and Batteries; Voltage and
Current Sources; Thevenin’s theorem, Norton’s theorem and their applications.
4. Electronics Devices and Circuits : Classification of materials into conductor, semi conductor, insulator
etc, electrical properties, magnetic materials, various types of relays, switches and connectors,
conventional representation of electric and electronic circuits elements. Active and passive components,
semi conductor Physics, Semiconductor Diode, Bipolar transistor & their circuits, Transistor Biasing
Stabilization of operating point; Single stage transistor amplifier, field effect transistor, Mosfet circuits
applications.
Multistage Transistor Amplifier, Transistor Audio Power Amplifiers; Feedback in Amplifier, Sinusoidal
Oscillators; Tuned Voltage Amplifiers; Opto Electronics Devices and their applications; Operational
Amplifier, Wave shaping and switching circuits.
Block diagram of I.C. Timer (such as 555) and its working; Motivation Circuits; Time Base Circuits,
Thyristory and UJT; Regulated Power Supply.
5. Digital Techniques : Application and advantages of digital systems; number system (binary and
hexadecimal); Logic Gates; Logic Simplication; Codes and Parity; Arithmetic Circuits; Decoders, Display
Devices and Associated Circuits; Multiplexers and De-multiplexers; Latches and Flip Flops; Counters;
Shift Registers; Memories; A/D and D/A converters.

3 phases vs. single-phase supply, Star Delta connections, relation between phase & line voltage power
factor and their measurements; construction and principles of working of various types of electrical
measuring instruments. All types of motor and generator-AC & DC transformers starters, rectifiers,
inverters, battery charges, batteries, servo and stepper motors, contactor control circuits, switchgear,
relays, protection devices & schemes, substation, protective relaying, circuits breaker, generator
protection, transformer protection, feeder & lightening protection, feeder & bus bar protection, lightening
arrestor, ear thing, voltage stabilizer & regulators, power control devices & circuits, phase controlled
rectifiers, inverters, choppers dual converters, cycloconverters; power electronics application in control of
drivers, refrigeration & air-conditioning.
2. Communication :
Modulation and demodulation – principles and operation of various types of AM, FM and PM
modulators/demodulators; pulse modulation – TDM, PAM, PPM, PWM, Multiplexing, Principles and
applications of PCM.
Introduction of Basic block diagram of digital and data communication systems, Coding error detection and
correction techniques; Digital Modulation Techniques – ASK, ICW, FSK, PSK, Characteristics/working of
data transmission circuits, UART, USART, Modems; Protocols and their function: brief idea of ISDN
Interface Local Area Network.
