Alex Darby Jack Davies Daisy Inkersole Ben Jones Lillie Laverick Beth Leighton Rhiana Powell Dion Sidlauskas Led by conductor and vocal animateur David Lawrence, Birmingham on Broadway will see over 80 students from across the region perform a selection of modern classics - raising awareness that orchestral music isnt always what you might expect! Mixing chart hits and show tunes, it reinterprets classics, resurrects forgotten songs and develops them for a new audience. Since the project began in January 2012, participating instrumentalists and singers have been mentored through weekly rehearsals by a team of professional CBSO musicians and vocal animateurs before joining forces for this evenings spectacular showcase performance. Birmingham on Broadway has offered a unique opportunity for personal and artistic development. Fostering vocal and instrumental skills of its participants, it has helped to broaden understanding and appreciation of orchestral music; develop instrumental, vocal and ensemble skills under professional tuition; and inspire musical confidence and aspiration through public performance.
