pedagogical approaches. Also, conducting and teaching the Young Sinfonia, which is in
partnership with the Royal Northern Sinfonia. Aiding musicality, expression, connection with
the music they were playing, conducting the orchestra and writing arrangements for.

I-Stage North East – Music arranger and performer, saxophone and piano
Owner of ‘Clarion’ and ‘Vivo Swing Orchestra’ – Conductor, Arranger, Piano and Clarinet
I have a reputation for being extremely creative, passionate and driven when it comes to my
music and conducting, singing teaching, always giving one hundred percent attention and
dedication to the music, the show and the performance and the learning and technical
development of students. Adults or young people, everybody deserves music in their lives, and
anything I can do to make that possible is welcomed.
I recently had some of my arrangements performed in “Birdland” in New York City with great
response from audience and industry professionals.
I also co-ran and MD/arrange for “Vivo Swing Orchestra”, a North-East swing band that plays
for events, gigs and played for me during shows in pits. Having a good strong grasp of
instrumentation and music theory, I have gained a lot of experience arranging all kinds of
music whilst working with the orchestra, and writing and arranging for specific events and
shows.
I regularly get hired as an accompanist and have played for various vocal and instrumental
recitals, as well as theatre jazz evenings and cabarets.
Lecturing and teaching across the country has given me a lot of experience in musical teachings,
conducting orchestras professionally, singing techniques and musical performance within
musical theatre/music students and even in group contexts with young people and also adults.

“Joe is a marvelously versatile, much-admired musician who works with authority and finesse
across a whole range of styles. His knowledge of the Music-Theatre repertoire is encyclopedic
and his passion for music of all kinds is an inspiration to his students and colleagues.”
“I met Joe through the ArtsEd school program when i came to London to perform at the
London Palladium with Kristin Chenoweth. I had sent the music ahead and of course as
with any city - you never really know how much time a choir and their leaders will put into
learning 2 brand new songs - and I can say that Joe was so pivotal in having that choir
more prepared than we’ve ever had before. Getting to know Joe and his music a little
more since our time in London - i can tell what a talented young man he is - his piano
playing and musicianship and his music direction and now his original music will do
nothing but keep soaring. Hope to get him out to Los Angeles at some point and show
him off to the cabaret and musical theatre world we have here.”
“Joe is a very special individual. He holds the power to inspire and challenge his students
in ways unthinkable. Personally, Joe provided me with a completely new outlook on the
arts. He helped me to discover emotions that I didn’t even know existed, thus I was able
to approach roles with much stronger foundations. Not only has Joe been a musical
theatre mentor, but he has also acted as a life coach. He is very much an advocator of how
we as human beings should embrace love, or what we love, and indeed stay ‘human’. In
fact, Joe was a somewhat guru figure in my theatre course. He helped us to find reasons
to say “this is why we do it”, and for that I am forever grateful to him.”
