Convergncia I Uni CIU

Convergncia i Uni (CIU) is formed by 2 nationalists parties in Catalunya, ruled from 1980-2003, chaired by Jordi Pujol, former president of the Generalitat de Catalunya since December 18, 2003. Since January 2001, when Artur Mas took over as Regional Minister of the Government chap, it was producing a gradual relief in the leadership of the federation. This last elections with Josep Duran Lleida as the leader, the party won 16 seats in the Spanish government being the 3rd party that won most votes in all the elections with more than 1 million votes. He said feeling really proud of joining CIU because they were making a great progress. Now with almost 60 years Duran Lleida has taken his party to the highest point in electoral elections of its history. He has managed to earn a place in the imagination of the Spanish ( specially the Catalan population) population as a serious politician and orator.

CIUs ideology is that they believe that Catalunya should be independent from Spain, and this topic is causing a lot of polemics around the country. They are Christian democratic so they opposed to homosexual engage. I think this party shouldnt have a lot of importance in Spain because they dont want to be part of the country. Spain is a country that has to be together as a family something that CIU doesnt want.
