Kihim

Kihim is a small beach town that is located in the state of Maharashtra. The town is located near Alibagh and it is a popular hangout place among the people of Pune and Mumbai. It is a town that is known as a perfect weekend getaway. The main attraction in the place is the long stretches of clean beaches that have been unaffected by the advent of tourism. There are small villages that are located near Kihim and these are good places that you can visit, while travelling to Kihim town. The people are friendly and many fishing villages dot the seaside. The place is extremely popular among ornithologists as many species of birds can be seen here. For nature buffs, this is an ideal place to visit and witness nature at its rawest form. The village of Chaul is a small town with a rich colonial heritage. This is an interesting place to visit and there are many relics of Portuguese occupation that can be seen here. There is an old church that is located in the town and an old synagogue that was built by the Bene Jews still remains today. A Balaji Temple and the Umma Maheswar Temple is also located in the place.

The place experiences a tropical monsoon type of climate and the conditions are extreme during the summer season. The humidity is also high due to the close proximity of the Arabian Sea. Monsoon season experiences high levels of rainfall. The winter season is the best time to visit the place and conditions are comfortable. The summer season extends through the months from March to May. The temperatures range from a minimum of 32C and can rise up to a maximum of 35C. The humidity and the heat combine to the make the conditions uncomfortable. Temperatures reach the highest in the month of May. Monsoon season experiences heavy rainfall from the South West Monsoon. Spells of rain are common in the months of June, July, August and September. Visiting the place during this period is difficult. The months of October and November get certain amount of rainfall and this is a good time to visit the place, as the temperatures are mild. Winter season is from December to February, and the conditions are cool and pleasant. The humidity remains high during winter too. Temperatures range from a minimum of 14C and can rise up to a maximum of 30C during this period.
