INTER VLANs As we know communication between different VLANs is not possible, so we need to configure an Inter-VLAN to allow communication.

There are three inter-VLAN routing device options. *Router-on-a-stick, reduced cost but provides lower performance on busy networks. It uses logical subinterfaces of the physical interface. *External router with enough interfaces for every VLAN **EXPENSIVE**

*Layer 3 multilayer Catalyst switch, the traditional one, is by connecting a router to the switch
infrastructure. The router interfaces can be connected to separate VLANs, thats why devices on those VLANs communicates with each other via the router. It uses the physical interfaces of the router.

1 Traffic from PC1 on VLAN10 is routed through router R1 to communicate with PC3 on VLAN 20. 2. PC1 and PC3 are on different VLANs and have IP addresses on different subnets. 3. Router R1 has a separate interface configured for each of the VLANs.
