Bombay Bread Bakery Launches “Breaking Bread”

Hartford, Connecticut October 15 2008−Bombay Bread Bakery Recently announced a new

initiative to give back to the community. This initiative is called “Breaking Bread”. As is the case
with many bakery and café establishments, at the end of the night a lot of food and baked goods
is left over and often times goes to waste. Realizing this, Bombay Bread Bakery founder and
president Edward Solis Bombay decided to donate these freshly baked items that will not have
the opportunity to be sold after closing time to local homeless shelters, women’s shelters, and
other groups and organizations looking to help those in need.

With 820 franchise and company-owned locations across the 48 continental United States, this
initiative will have a widespread affect. “Breaking Bread” with donate food to more than 1000
organizations which will put food in the mouths of thousands of needy Americans. The products
given to these organizations will include fresh bakes bread, sweet rolls, soups and bread bowls,
sandwiches, and pitas.

Bombay Bread Bakery will put this plan into effect as of December 1, 2008. Realizing that those
in need often experience even more difficult times during the holiday season, launching the
philanthropic initiative in December is hoped to start it off on the right foot. Edward Solis
Bombay declared that they have not and do not plan to set an end date to the running time of
this project in hopes that it will be an ongoing service project. Additionally, because Bombay
Break Bakery realizes that its greatest asset is the people of their community, the company is
ecstatic to give back to them at such a pervasive level.
