1956: Luis Noboa patents his Bonita brand of bananas. 1964: Exportadora Bananera Noboa (EBN) is accounting for one-sixth of Ecuador's banana exports. 1972: Noboa moves to New York to direct his holdings. 1977: EBN's share of Ecuador's banana exports peak at 47 percent of the total. 1985: Independent producers are turning out about half of EBN's bananas. 1994: Death of Noboa sets off a struggle for control of the enterprise. 1997: Luis's son lvaro wins control of EBN. 2003: EBN's agricultural division includes ten banana plantations.
