STAR
Situation During my first year at university Task I carried out an assignment where I created a website for a small business. The website had to be user friendly, all links had to work effectively and the website had to be displayed on the universitys server.
STAR
Action I arranged meetings with the end user to talk about the design, colours and layout that he would like, and to identify the content from his old website that he would like to retain in the new one. I demonstrated sample designs to help him clarify his ideas. We discussed the companys values and how they could be reflected. I also met with the university webmaster to find out the web authoring packages that were compatible with the university website, and decided to use Dreamweaver. I created a mock-up of a home page and a suggested navigation, which I presented to the end user in a second meeting.
STAR
Result The end user was impressed with my proposals and offered me a temporary contract for the Summer vacation to implement the website. You can see the website I created on www.website.co.uk. I developed skills in negotiation and presentation, as well as gaining new skills in the use of Dreamweaver. I achieved a high grade for the assignment.
