Aim
To Desize the gray or muslin fabric for the removal of starch by enzyme method.
Properties of Enzymes : enzymes are bio-catalyst of organic origin, secreted by living organisms. Chemically enzymes are proteins of high molecular weight. Enzymes are highly specific in their action on substrates. For example amylase act only on starch not
on cellilose.
Materials required : Grey cotton fabric, burette, pipette, electronic balance, measuring
cylinders etc,
Chemicals used and their functions: Amvlase Enzvme : It Hydrolyses(Removes) the starch present in the fabric. Common salt

Desizing Procedure:
First the fabric is weighed in electronic balance and the weight is noted.
Set the Desizing bath with required amount of water and enzyme .Wet the fabric and add into the bath stirrer well.
Add the common salt. Increase the temperature of the bath 60 work for 2 hours
Care to be taken so that the temperature should not more than 70o C, because the enzymes are become in active above 70o C.
After 2 hours remove the fabric from the desizing bath wash cold water thoroughly, and dry it.
