Are you a computer science major looking for a part-time job? Interested in getting involved in language research?

The Baby Language Lab is looking for a student programmer to support its research program by developing scripts/programs to analyze audio and XML-formatted files collected from observational studies of infants and toddlers in daycare and home settings. Job Details: 10+ hrs/week, flexible work schedule $15-20/hr pay depending on qualifications and experience Acquire self-guided experience developing XMLbased scripts, as well as phonetics-oriented scripting using Praat Work closely with Prof. Melanie Soderstrom (Lab Director) as well as other undergraduate RAs involved in the project Opportunity to learn about child language acquisition, integrated in a vibrant research laboratory funded by major grants from both NSERC and SSHRC Desired Skills/Characteristics: Experience with XML Ability to create scripts or small programs to analyze auditory/XML-based data. Ability to learn and adapt quickly to novel platforms Ability to work both independently and together with non-tech staff Interest in child language research is valued but not required Ability to commit to a full year as a student RA, minimum 10 hrs/week average work load (flexible) Undergraduate students at all levels welcome to apply
