The Lost Foam casting process originated in 1958 when H.F. Shroyer was granted a patent for a cavity-less casting method. Using a polystyrene foam pattern embedded in traditional green sand. Simple and inexpensive than other casting.

Advantages Suitable complex castings that would regularly require cores. dimensionally accurate and maintains an excellent surface finish Disadvantages Pattern costs can be high for low volume applications. Patterns are easily damaged or distorted due to their low strength

Defect Uncompleted casting (Poured Short ) Cause insufficient quantity of metal poured and interruption during the pour. Produced by gas entrapped in the metal during solidification. Pattern been damaged or distorted

The main point to produce the good product is the process and molds itself. should enough time to repeat the same experiment by fixing the defect cause and compared experiments
