GIBSIN was invited to provide the design and engineering of the structural steel for the boiler building structure. The structure for this project consists of four tiers and GIBSIN completed and submitted the detailed design to API on a tier by tier basis. API produced preliminary framing layout of the boiler structure including main columns, bracing, and platforms. API also generated column foundation loads, base plates design and design of columns and vertical bracing. The document transmitted by API to GIBSIN was in the form of a 3D structural model for engineering drawings. GIBSIN's scope of this work involved structural design calculations, member sizing, production of structural arrangement drawings for construction use and was also responsible of the review of structural fabrication drawings. Design of platform steel including stairs and landings Design of roof purlins and girts Design of elevator support framing including elevator landings and liners Adding, relocating and/or removing fill-in and miscellaneous steel framing as required during the course of execution of the project Interference checking of steel Preparation of structural arrangement drawings, showing member sizes and connection design loads for the development of shop details Structural steel weight calculation & material take-off Review and approval of steel shop fabrication drawings Design calculation for all structural steel
