Exercise # 1 :-

ee phase asynchronous motor .

Develop a control for a star delta circuit in which the switch over can be carried out manually via push button operation . Assemble the control develop in the figure below with the main circuit in the figure above and test the operation .

Experimental Procedure :A . Star Delta Circuit [Switching Conditions for the main Circuit] .
When the star contactor K3 and the main contactor K1 are switch on , the motor starts in star circuit . In delta circuit , the motor runs when the delta contactor K2 and the main contactor K1 are activated . During switch over the star circuit must switch off first then delta circuit The figure below shows the power circuit for star delta connection . K2 and K3 may never be activated simultaneously .

Description :-

When pressing the switch S2 then the contactor K1 & K3 will turned on then the motor will operate in STAR form . Now pressing S3 then the contactor K3 will be turned off and K2 will be turned on so that the circuit will operate in DELTA form . Now pressing S1 the whole circuit will be turned off . We must press S2 then S3 to work the circuit properly . We notice that the speed of the motor in delta form is speeder than the star form , since the delta connection take more current than star .

B . Star Delta circuit with time delay .

Develop a control circuit for star delta starter in which after an 5 second time delay the switch over from star to delta follows automatically . A time relay for a short term operation is to be used for the automatic switch over . Assemble the control circuit shown in the figure below with the main circuit according to the criteria above and put the circuit into operation .

Description :
When controlling the circuit then the circuit bus be started in STAR form initially because the starting current for the STAR is less than that of DELTA , and after a period of time the circuit must be switched in DELTA form because its power when reaching the steady state is less than that of STAR . What would happen if ???! A short circuit will U2 with W2 , and the have a contactor and lab . K2 and K3 are activated simultaneously occur because we are connecting V2 with whole motor will be burned if we don't the electricity will switch off in the

Question :-

Description :

At first when pressing the switch S2 the contactor K1 & K3 will be turned on and also K4T timer will be turned on while T2 will be turned off causing the circuit to be in STAR format and then give the motor larger force to operate initially , after the timer reach its final value K4T switch will toggle ( change ) its state from NC to NO and vise versa , so that the

Basically all of the star delta circuits must be designed , so that the star contactor always switches off first before the delta contactor can be switching over from star to delta . Otherwise short circuit occur due to switching overlaps in the main circuit .

Switching Condition for the control circuit .

contactor K2 will be turned on while K3 will be turned off causing the circuit to be in DELTA form and then consumed less power .

Exercise # 2 :Three Speed Motor

The power circuit is as follows:-

It is desired to run three phase motor , when starting switch to on position the lower speed start , after 10 second the mid speed is operate , after 20 sec the highest speed is operated Never two speeds operate at the same time . The control circuit is shown in the figure below :-

Conclusion: In this experiment we learn how to control motor in STAR and DELTA onnection and how to combine between theses tow onnetion and why we do that and what is pinefits.

a) Design the power circuit . b) Build up both power circuit and control circuit . We build the whole circuit and it work properly . But in the Lab we don't have this three speed motor , so that we simulate it by using a two speed motor and another single speed . Construct a control circuit and power circuit for a motor with two speed , the switch S0 will stop the motor and switch S1 will run the motor at first speed and switch S2 will run the motor at second speed . [Never run two speeds at the same time] . The control circuit is similar to the first one but we have to use two contactors instead of three

We connect the circuit as shown:-
